Russian "Novaya Gazeta" ceases operations under pressure from authorities
Editor-in-chief of independent Russian newspaper "Novaya Gazeta" Sergei Sokolov announced the paper's closure after more than 30 years. He cited pressure from authorities as the reason. "We have been killed," Sokolov wrote, adding that the editorial team faces financial ruin and constant threat of repression.
