Russian "Novaya Gazeta" ends operations under pressure from authorities

The editorial board of Russian independent newspaper "Novaya Gazeta" announced it is ceasing operations. In a published statement, the board said Russian authorities and security services forced it to stop work, describing the situation as entering a "death zone". It is another blow to independent media in Russia.
