Postman Cheval's Palace cracks as drought and heat worsen
The Ideal Palace of Postman Cheval in Hauterives, France, built by Ferdinand Cheval over 33 years from stones collected during his postal rounds, is deteriorating due to climate change. Prolonged droughts and heat waves cause shifts in the clay foundation, creating cracks and fragments breaking away from the facade. Conservators monitor the fissures with plaster seals and conduct precise restoration work to preserve the original appearance of the structure.
