Love in Auschwitz: the story of Edek Galiński and Mala Zimetbaum

Edward Galiński and Mala Zimetbaum fell in love at Auschwitz-Birkenau, where he worked as a mechanic and she as a translator — both were among the privileged prisoners, but did not abuse their position. The couple managed to escape the camp together, but the Germans caught them and met them with a tragic fate, making them an example to the other prisoners. Their story is described by Francesca Paci in the book "Love in Auschwitz."
