FTC demands explanations from Delta, Uber and others on algorithmic price discrimination

The US Federal Trade Commission ordered nine major companies — including Delta, United and JetBlue airlines, Uber, Lyft, DoorDash and Instacart platforms, and Target and Walmart retail chains — to disclose how they use algorithms and loyalty programs to set different prices for customers and pay for drivers. The investigation responds to complaints and lawsuits alleging prices are tied to users' purchase history or personal data. Companies must explain how their pricing systems work.
