China's ruling party expels 32 officials, schedules party congress for 2027

The fifth plenum of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee, which ended Thursday in Beijing, formally approved the removal of 32 high-ranking officials from power. The plenum also set the date for the 21st Party Congress for the second half of 2027. Chinese state media reported the moves.
