Drunk German crashes Golf head-on with truck on A1 at 1.7‰ BAC, arrested

Late Sunday into Monday on the 65 km marker of the A1 highway near Kamionka, a 50-year-old German national drove a Volkswagen Golf with a blood alcohol content of 1.7‰. In a construction zone he struck barriers and drove into the opposing lane, where he collided head-on with a Mercedes truck heading toward Gdańsk. The Golf's passenger was hospitalized with injuries; the driver was detained and charged with causing an accident while intoxicated.
