Lumina simulation shows 2 billion years of early universe history

Researchers from MIT published results of the Lumina simulation, which maps 2 billion years of cosmic history – from the end of the universe's "dark ages" to the formation of the first galaxies, around 380,000 years after the Big Bang. The study appeared in "Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society." The simulation achieves a greater range of scales – from the smallest to the largest structures – than any previous model.
