Szczawnica sits between the Pieniny and Beskid Sądecki ranges and offers both active recreation and 19th-century spa atmosphere. From Palenica – accessible by cable car – views extend to the Pieniny, Beskid Sądecki, and Tatras. The Pieniny Road along the Dunajec (around 9 km) is worth walking, as are visits to the Homole Gorge and Biała Woda reserve.
