Coffee and high blood pressure: when it's safe and when it poses risks

A review in "Nutrients" found that moderate coffee consumption does not increase hypertension risk, and polyphenols in beans have anti-inflammatory effects. People with well-controlled blood pressure can safely drink 1–3 cups daily. However, at blood pressure 160/100 mm Hg or higher, research in the "Journal of the American Heart Association" showed twice the risk of cardiovascular complications when drinking at least two cups daily. Filter-drip coffee without sugar and fatty milk is recommended.
