Poland's first conviction of a bishop for failing to report priests' crimes

A court found bishop Andrzej Jeż guilty of failing to report sexual crimes against minors committed by priests under his authority, and sentenced him to two years of restricted liberty in total. This is the first conviction in Poland involving an active diocesan bishop in such a case. Previously, no church hierarchy member had faced trial for delayed notification of authorities about crimes by clergy under his supervision.
