Drunk driver flees police in Żurejno, hits tree: dies
The crash occurred on Tuesday, October 27 near Żurejno in Warmia. A police officer and SOK personnel smelled alcohol on a man sitting in a Fiat van in Stare Jabłonki — he promised he would not drive. Around 1:00 p.m. he set out anyway; he ignored a STOP sign at an intersection with DK16, and when officers gave chase, he lost control of the vehicle and hit a roadside tree. The driver died at the scene.
