Britain pledges to raise defence spending to 3% of GDP by 2030

Chancellor John Healey announced on Wednesday that Britain will reach 3% of GDP on defence by 2030, rising to 3.5% of GDP by 2035 — in line with NATO requirements. Healey did not specify concrete funding sources; these are to be determined in a broader government spending review next year. The spending increase will include joint arms purchases with Finland, Poland and the Netherlands.
