Malta raises environmental fee to 8–10 euros per night from next year
Starting January 1, tourists staying in Malta will pay 8 euros per night in collective accommodations or 10 euros in short-term apartments, up from the current 1.50 euros. The government estimates the reform will bring an additional 182 million euros annually to the budget. New fees will also apply to cruise ship passengers (10 euros), visits to Comino (5 euros), and ferries to Gozo (a 3-euro increase).
