Human rights groups oppose UAE diplomat Nusseibeh for UN secretary-general

Human rights organizations have called on UN member states to reject Lana Nusseibeh, a diplomat from the United Arab Emirates, as a candidate for UN secretary-general. They cite allegations that Abu Dhabi finances Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The UAE denies these accusations. The 48-year-old Nusseibeh would be seeking to become the first woman to lead the UN.
