NASA's Swift telescope to burn up in atmosphere as rescue mission fails

NASA's Swift Observatory will enter Earth's atmosphere and burn up next week after a rescue mission was unsuccessful. The telescope collected data on gamma-ray bursts and other cosmic phenomena over many years, leaving a vast archive for researchers. Astronomers are saying goodbye to the instrument with regret, emphasizing its unique contribution to astrophysics.
