At least 72 killed in raids over cattle in South Sudan
On Monday in Tonj North county in Warrap state in northern South Sudan, a coordinated attack occurred between Lou Ariik and Apuk Padoch communities — at least 72 people were killed, homes burned, and cattle stolen. The information minister of Warrap state reported that the attack was preceded by another from last Friday in which 8 people were killed. In August in the same area at least 60 people were killed in a similar raid. South Sudan is preparing for its first elections since independence.
