UN warns: displacement of Palestinians from Hebron may be ethnic cleansing
Volker Türk, UN human rights chief, condemned an Israeli operation that forcibly displaced over 3,000 Palestinians from their homes in Hebron on the West Bank. The operation followed an incident on Friday in which two Palestinian fighters killed two Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint near the city. Türk called for an immediate end to the operation, calling collective punishment "a serious violation of international law".
