Heat killed over 50,000 people in European cities

New research accepted for publication but not yet peer-reviewed estimates that summer heat killed over 50,000 people in urban areas across Europe. Scientists point out that climate change is responsible for two-thirds of these deaths. The study highlights particular risk for city residents, where temperatures are higher than in rural areas.
