Irma Grese at Auschwitz-Birkenau: sadistic supervisor terrorized young Polish woman

Irma Grese joined the Auschwitz-Birkenau staff in March 1943 at age 19. She quickly became known for sadism — one of her victims was a young Polish woman whose fate was described in an account by Olga Lengyel, deported to the camp from Hungary in 1944. Lengyel witnessed beatings and further reprisals that Grese inflicted on prisoners.
