Pad Thai ranks fourth among most-ordered dishes in Poland
According to a Wolt year-end report, the Thai stir-fried rice noodle dish Pad Thai placed fourth among the most-ordered dishes in Poland — the only Asian dish in a ranking dominated by burgers, fries and pizza. The dish emerged in the 1930s–40s at the Thai government's initiative to replace expensive rice with cheaper rice noodles. It combines wok technique and noodles from Chinese cuisine with Thai ingredients: tamarind, fish sauce and palm sugar. In Thailand itself, it is primarily street food, not an everyday home dish.
