Pope's Envoy Visits Ukrainian Prisoners in Russia for First Time Since 2022
Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, envoy of Pope Leon XIV, became the first foreign representative to gain physical access to Ukrainian prisoners of war held in Russia since 2022, according to Ukrainian human rights ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets. The cardinal's visit to Moscow, his third since the war began, took place in September.
