Liechtenstein's Prince Alois vetoes abortion law backed by quarter of voters
Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein used his veto power for the first time during his reign, blocking an abortion law passed by parliament. The law would have brought the country's regulations in line with standards in most of Europe and was supported by a citizens' initiative signed by roughly a quarter of all voters. The decision has sparked outrage among reproductive rights campaigns.
