EU Parliament seeks delay of methane rules for fuel importers to May

The European Parliament proposed postponing the obligation for EU importers of oil, gas and coal to report methane emissions from January 1 to May 31. The European Commission filed a deferral request on October 14, backed by French President Emmanuel Macron. Member states still need several weeks to reach a position. An exception to the delay will apply to fuels from countries under EU sanctions.
