Physicists trap antimatter particle in quantum cyclotron for months
Scientists at Northwestern University led by Gerald Gabrielse created the first single-positron quantum cyclotron. They held a single antimatter particle—a positron—in a trap for many months. Using the device, researchers aim to answer a fundamental question: why does the universe consist mainly of matter rather than antimatter.
