UK inflation rises to 3.5% ahead of government budget

Inflation in Britain accelerated to 3.5% year-on-year in September from 3.1% in August, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The increase came just before the government's budget announcement next week. Public sector debt meanwhile reached its highest level in a year.
