FSB detains sailor attempting solo Arctic voyage

Matt Rutherford, founder of Ocean Research Project, departed western Greenland on June 25 to become the first person to sail solo and non-stop around the Arctic. In mid-August he reached the Russian archipelago Novaya Zemlya, where FSB officers detained his yacht and ordered him to turn back. Rutherford was forced to abandon his record attempt due to threatening interventions by Russian security services.
