Scientists discover planet that triggers flares on its star
Astronomers discovered planet HIP 67522 b, which orbits so close to its star that it triggers powerful flares on it. Additional radiation and particles emitted by the star may accelerate the planet's atmosphere loss. The discovery was made by a team led by Ekaterina Ilin from the Dutch Institute of Radio Astronomy (ASTRON) and the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics in Potsdam.
