European Parliament agrees compromise to suspend combustion car sales ban after 2035
After overnight negotiations, three major political groups in the European Parliament agreed a compromise that would politically suspend the ban on selling new combustion engine cars from 2035. The agreement opens the way for continued sales of petrol and diesel vehicles after that date. MEP Dariusz Joński commented: "Every EU citizen will be able to buy whatever car they want". The compromise details must still pass further legislative stages.
