Lublin cardiosurgery center with 800-person shelter gets 284 million euros from EU
The East European Center for Vascular, Cardiac and Transplant Medicine — known as Block S with 73 beds — will be built at the Stefan Cardinal Wyszyński Hospital in Lublin. The investment will cost over 299 million zloty, with over 284 million zloty (95 percent) from EU funds and 15 million zloty from the Lublin Voivodeship. The facility will serve dual purposes: as a cardiosurgery center during normal times, and as a shelter for 800 people in case of armed conflict or disaster. Construction is planned for 24 months, with completion expected at the turn of 2028 and 2029.
