Russian Satellite Kosmos 2612 Approached Ukraine-Supporting Satellite to 500 Meters

Russian military satellite Kosmos 2612 maneuvered to approximately 500 meters from ICEYE-X36, a commercial radar satellite operated by Finnish firm ICEYE that has provided intelligence data to Ukraine and its allies for a year. LeoLabs, which tracks space objects, confirmed that within one weekend Kosmos 2612 maneuvered both in front of and behind the ICEYE satellite. Experts assess the maneuver may have been a trial run for attack, provocation, or a test of satellite operators' response.
