Okinawa scientists move levitating diamond using quantum forces
Physicists in Okinawa conducted an experiment in which they used properties of electrons to move a levitating diamond. The study is a step toward testing whether objects far larger than atoms can exhibit quantum phenomena — a phenomenon known as superposition, described by Schrödinger's cat thought experiment. Quantum mechanics has described the world of particles for over a hundred years, but the boundary between the quantum microworld and everyday classical physics remains a mystery.
