Oldest known shipwreck discovered off Turkish island of Kekova
Archaeologists from Akdeniz University under Prof. Hakan Öniz found the remains of the world's oldest known shipwreck off the Turkish island of Kekova. The wood did not survive millennia, but the Mediterranean seafloor preserved amphorae, stone anchors and traces of cargo. The discovery may reshape knowledge of the earliest trade routes in the Mediterranean basin.
