Pope Leo XIV spoke with Putin, appealed for ceasefire

Hospitalized Pope Leo XIV had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Holy Father appealed for a ceasefire and called for humanitarian aid delivery and evacuation of civilians from the Ukrainian city of Oleshky. The Vatican officially announced the conversation.
