Ethiopia appoints interim government in Tigray, promises elections within six months
Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced on Friday the appointment of a temporary administration in the Tigray region, previously controlled by the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF). The new authorities are to prepare elections within six months. The region was the site of an armed conflict that claimed hundreds of thousands of lives in 2020–2022.
