Google: Willow chip cuts quantum computer errors 40-fold

Google said its Willow quantum processor reduced errors in generating so-called magic states by 40 times. This is a major bottleneck in quantum computer development, as these machines consume these states in large quantities. The breakthrough brings closer the construction of smaller and useful quantum computers, but also machines capable of breaking current encryption.
