Merck and Moderna mRNA vaccine extends survival in melanoma patients

Teacher Gary Keblish, diagnosed with melanoma in 2019, underwent tumor removal surgery and then participated in a clinical trial of a personalized mRNA vaccine developed by Merck and Moderna. The study showed the therapy effectively reduces the risk of aggressive melanoma recurrence after surgery. Representatives of both companies acknowledge much research remains, but early results are encouraging.
