Head of fuel smuggling ring arrested in Ukraine after 10 years on the run
A 63-year-old from Leszno County evaded Polish justice for a decade while wanted by red notice, European Arrest Warrant and Interpol. In the early 2000s he ran an organized crime group involved in illegal fuel trafficking and VAT fraud, costing the state treasury 120 million zloty. He was arrested in Ukraine in February this year through Polish-foreign cooperation, and after several months of extradition proceedings was imprisoned in Poland for over four years.
