EU Commission proposes EU KIDS Act: ban social media accounts for under-15s
The European Commission adopted a draft EU KIDS Act regulation prohibiting people under 15 from independently creating accounts on high-risk platforms, including social networks and AI chatbots. For teenagers aged 13–14, parent-supervised accounts are envisioned. The rules also impose strict requirements on digital service designers and for the first time comprehensively regulate children's interaction with virtual AI assistants.
