Nobel Prize in Economics awarded to Hall and Woodford for economic stabilization models
Americans Robert Hall from Stanford University and Michael Woodford from Columbia University received the Nobel Prize in Economics for developing microeconomic foundations of macroeconomic stabilization. Their models provide central bankers and finance ministers with better tools to mitigate recessions and curb inflation. The Nobel Committee stressed that the work of both scientists helps smooth the peaks and troughs of economic cycles.
