Von der Leyen: illegal EU border crossings down 55% in two years

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen informed EU leaders in a letter that illegal crossings at the EU's external borders have reached their lowest level since 2021. Over two years, crossings have fallen by 55%, and this year alone by more than one-third. Von der Leyen announced plans for new European frameworks for crisis response at borders.
