Female chimp brings daughter to teach her ant-fishing technique
A camera trap in the Dindefelo Reserve in Senegal recorded a female chimpanzee that interrupted her own ant-fishing with a stick to bring her daughter back to the nest. The young chimp picked up a stick and began fishing on her own, while the mother watched her progress closely. Researchers assess that the mother deliberately modified her behavior to enable her daughter to learn the tool—suggesting intentional knowledge transfer in savanna chimpanzees.
