Fortifications dating to 4000 years ago discovered in northern Morocco

Archaeologists have uncovered a defensive system approximately 4000 years old along the Oued Beht river in northwestern Morocco. A ditch, earthen rampart and wall formed a barrier protecting the southern part of the site. The discovery shows that local populations undertook substantial building projects in an era about which little is still known.
