Planet Born from Star's Ashes: Discovery Around White Dwarf

A team of scientists from Germany, the USA and Britain led by Jamie T. Williams of University of Warwick discovered traces of planet formation around a white dwarf. The matter consumed by the dead star has an unusual composition suggesting that a new generation of planets may form after a star's death. This is the first clear evidence that cosmic "second life" is possible.
