Doudna: AI won't replace biologists, but will become their partner
Jennifer Doudna, Nobel laureate and co-developer of CRISPR technology, believes AI accelerates tedious laboratory tasks—organizing data and detecting patterns in large datasets—but cannot independently design experiments or make spontaneous research decisions. According to Doudna, the future of science involves researchers working side by side with AI systems that handle routine work. This will give researchers time to pursue more difficult scientific questions.
