Cheap Android smartphones sold with preinstalled malware

Security researchers at Bitdefender discovered that an unknown actor compromised the supply chain of several smartphone manufacturers and installed firmware-level malware before devices reached stores. Affected brands included Doogee; victims were identified in 150 countries, and removing the threat often required intervention at the operating system level.
