Portugal's Vale do Forno site shows oldest human traces in western Iberia

Archaeologists in Alpiarça, central Portugal, have identified Vale do Forno as the oldest known site of human presence on the western edge of the Iberian Peninsula. Prehistoric people lived there more than 300,000 years ago. Dozens of stone artifacts discovered during excavations provide the evidence.
