Siemowit I: son of Konrad Mazowiecki slain by Lithuanians
Prince Siemowit I, son of Konrad Mazowiecki, died during a raid by pagan Lithuanians on the stronghold of Jazdów. Treachery by one of his own men allowed the attackers to breach the defenses — Siemowit was captured and beheaded, and his body was burned. The prince's twelve-year-old son was abducted to Lithuania. The circumstances of the death of the progenitor of the Masovian line of the Piasts remain disputed by historians.
