Hindus Make Offerings on the Ganges During Mahalaya in Kolkata

Hundreds of thousands of Hindus gathered on the banks of the Ganges in Kolkata to participate in the Tarpan ritual during Mahalaya. The festival is observed seven days before Durga Puja and is a day of remembrance for deceased ancestors. Devotees pray and make offerings to honor their memory.
