South Korea successfully tests hypersonic glide vehicle

South Korea conducted its first successful test of a domestically developed hypersonic glide vehicle (HGV) on October 8, observed by President Lee Jae-myung. The new system is intended to give Seoul deterrence capability and precision strike ability against strategic targets, strengthening the country's defense against threats from the North.
